My Approach to Sex & Relationship Therapy

Samantha Wilkins

Being able to provide a non judgemental safe space for my clients to speak openly about their past traumas, fears, intimacy problems, hidden kinks and fetishes (I am a kink aware therapist), is truly everything to me.

I also hold a placement position at Body Positive in Cheshire (LGBTQ+) which specialises in delivering comprehensive sexual health services for the LGBTQ+ community. I have just accepted an Associate therapist role at The Therapy Yard in Bath, and a Sexual Health Advisor role at Body Positive Crew

What is a Sex Therapist?

A sex therapist is a qualified professional who can help with the mental or emotional aspects of sex-related issues.

Sex therapists have a thorough understanding of human sexuality and use psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help you work through sexual issues. Sex therapists work with individuals and romantic/sexual partners.

Lots of people have a problem with sex at some point in their life. Some people can help themselves. For others, sexual problems can cause a lot of distress and unhappiness.

I attended CICS (Clinical Institute of Clinical Sexology) and am trained in Pluralistic therapy, which means that I recognise that 'one size does not fit all'.  I integrate various therapeutic techniques tailored to your individual needs. Pluralistic therapists embrace diversity in therapeutic interventions. It is an approach that  prioritises flexibility and responsiveness, allowing me to collaboratively choose and adapt interventions based on your unique circumstances and preferences.

"Be your authentic self. Your authentic self is who you are when you have no fear of judgement...before the world starts pushing you around and telling you who you are supposed to be. Your fictional self is who you are when you have a social mask on to please everyone else.
Give yourself permission to be your authentic self."
